Purpose

If you examine the City of Richadson's definitions of homeowner and neighborhood associations; you will discover that our UENHA is really more of a neighborhood association rather than a homeowners association.

What is a neighborhood association?
A neighborhood association is a voluntary association of homeowners, renters, apartment dwellers, and representatives from businesses, churches and schools who work together to improve and maintain the quality of life in their neighborhood.

Membership is open to all residents but participations is optional; the association determines its boundaries.
Dues are voluntary.
To ensure a visibly democratic process, the organization usually has bylaws that provide for at least one general membership meeting each year and require the annual election of officers.
Association positions statements are reached through consensus.

As stated in our Bylaws, the purpose of the Corporation (UENHA) is to assure the beauty, safety, and stability of the area and the surrounding community, to promote neighborliness and pride among the residents, and to form a base for representation in matters affecting the community.

The UENHA sponsors several events each year for the benefit of all residents of University Estates North: an Easter Egg Hunt, the 4th of July Parade, the National Night Out and annual meeting, and the Santa's Sleigh Ride, each with food and drinks provided for all attendees. A quarterly newsletter, The BUZZ, is given to all residents of the University Estates North to provide news of the upcoming events and other community news. UENHA maintains a public website and interfaces with the City of Richardson on many issues.

The UENHA board meetings are open to all residents to attend and encourage leadership roles from its membership.
